Mahjong Monday

Scoring / Rules

  • No blanks. 8 jokers. 8 flowers. Please check your sets before starting your first game!
  • Charleston: If your table has only 3 players, you will Charleston with "Bob" and all players will optional/courtesy pass with Bob only.
  • Only your 5 best game scores count toward your final tally — pick your 5 best!

Subbing Policies

The OCSM Subs, Waitlist & Drop-Ins GroupMe (the OG group) is for soliciting subs and general OCSM news only. The Mahjong Monday GroupMe and the Tile Tuesday GroupMe are for league-specific communication only — table assignments, announcements, scores, etc. Posts soliciting subs in either league GroupMe will be removed to keep the signal-to-noise ratio manageable for everyone.

If you need to find a sub, that goes only in the OG Group.

Mahjong Monday

Deadline: Saturday at 12:00 PM (Noon)

Post in the Mahjong Monday GroupMe as early as possible using this format:

  • Find your own sub: Their positive score counts for yours. Negative weeks don't count against you. Handle payment between yourselves.
  • Hand it off to OCSM: We'll release your seat to the waitlist. You still get the score benefit — no penalty. Great option if you know weeks in advance!

Two-week sub cap: Sub score benefit applies a maximum of twice per season. Beyond that, you receive a zero for the week, and we reserve the right to remove you from rankings and reevaluate your registration for future seasons.

After Saturday Noon — Before Monday @ 4:00 PM

Life happens — we get it. Notify Sarah directly via the Mahjong Monday GroupMe, text, email, or Instagram DM. Do not post to the OG GroupMe. We'll try to fill your spot, but can't guarantee it. You receive zero points for the week — no additional penalty.

If you don't notify us until after 4:00 PM on Monday, or don't show at all, here's how we handle it. No call, no shows throw off table assignments and leave players and willing subs in a lurch.

  • 1st Offense: −20 points
  • 2nd Offense: −30 points
  • 3rd+ Offense: −50 points + subject to removal and future registration restrictions

If you reach out, we'll always try to work with you on a case-by-case basis. And note: if you arrange a sub before the deadline and they cancel or no-show, you will NOT be penalized.

  • One grace absence per season — doesn't count against your two-week sub cap.
  • No penalty.
  • Sub's positive score counts for you if found.
  • If no sub found, or sub has a zero or negative week: +25 point bonus.

  • Find your own sub: You get your weekly ticket AND an icon for your pouch the following week. Handle payment between yourselves.
  • Hand it off to OCSM: We'll release your seat to the waitlist. You still get your weekly ticket and icon. Great option if you know weeks in advance!

Two-week sub cap: Ticket and icon benefit applies a maximum of twice per season. Beyond that, no benefit, and we reserve the right to reevaluate your registration for future seasons.

After Sunday Noon — Before Tuesday @ 4:00 PM

Notify Sarah directly via the Tile Tuesday GroupMe, text, email, or Instagram DM. Do not post to the OG GroupMe. You will receive a weekly ticket but will not receive an icon for that week.

If you don't notify us until after 4:00 PM on Tuesday, or don't show at all, here's how we handle it.

  • 1st Offense: No ticket, no icon
  • 2nd Offense: No ticket, no icon + ineligible for prize drawing at final night
  • 3rd+ Offense: Subject to removal from league and possible future registration restrictions

If you arrange a sub before the deadline and they cancel or no-show, you will NOT be penalized.
